A Message From Pat
Summer 2011
Greetings to all in Jesus' name!
Central Texans observed the 60th annual National Day of
Prayer on May 5, 2011 in more than 30 different locations to unite in prayer
agreeing with Psalm 91:2, “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my
fortress, my GOD, in whom I trust.” “A
Mighty Fortress is Our God” rang out across America. Civic observances were held in several
communities, churches hosted vigils, breakfasts, lunches and prayer
gatherings. There was unity in the
diversity of participation in leadership and those who attended. The power of the Holy Spirit was evident
through the unceasing prayer of the body of Christ in unison. See the photos of the “Concert of Prayer” at
the Expo Center on this web site. www.centexprayer.org
Pastor David W. Archer,
a Killeen Pastor, was inspired to write this prayer on May 5 as he went to
several prayer locations throughout the day:
God is far too great and powerful, loving and kind to fit into one denomination and True Faith in Christ Jesus is expressed through our obedience to God’s Holy Spirit in the Life that we lead more than in the creed that we profess….And we therefore pray for unity and boldness in our proclamation of God’s Word, for our churches and our leaders, clergy and laity, People of Faith exercised in service to their own communities…God grant us wisdom and vision to serve your will courageously in Jesus Christ’s name. AMEN
The third annual Global Day of Prayer in Central Texas was held at Harvest Church in Temple on Pentecost Sunday, June 12, at 3 pm. The body of Christ united in prayer and called out to God in repentance and intercession, for healing and blessing on the nations of the world. At least 15 different churches were represented with 145 in attendance, an increase from last year. Five different languages were spoken. Three different churches provided music, one sang in Spanish and one had dancers before the Lord that brought the presence of the Holy Spirit into the gathering. It was glorious! May the fire of the Holy Spirit continue to burn in our hearts! Ten Days of Global Prayer guides were distributed in the area to prepare for the Global Day of Prayer that was observed in over 200 nations. The Ft. Hood Spiritual Fitness Center also celebrated Global Day of Prayer at 3 pm.
Governor Perry has issued a Call to a National Solemn Assembly of Prayer The Response in Houston at Reliant Stadium on Saturday, August 6. Some from our area are registered and we are praying that an area event could be held simultaneously as the Lord leads. For more info: http://www.theresponseusa.com
The Central Texas Prayer network web site has six prayer links that connect to prayer initiatives and resources that are extremely helpful in connecting intercessors to other prayer ministries: PrayerCentral (military), Presidential Prayer Team (government), MasterMedia International (media), Congressional Prayer Caucus (lawmakers pray for a spiritual prayer wall in room 219), Waymaker’s Preparing God’s Way (Initiatives for continued prayer movement), and National Day of Prayer.
CTPN undergirds the expansion of Good News Clubs in area schools. Training for team members for existing GNC’s and new clubs will be held August 20. Local churches provide the volunteer teams to operate the Good News Club on each elementary campus. Contact Wayne Elkins welkins@hot.rr.com. To be an intercessor for this ministry for elementary children, contact me, Pat Dalrymple, psalm146two@att.net. The school prayer initiative in the TISD schools, that began 6 years ago in February, laid the foundation for this ministry that has touched over 300 children!
For 11 years Monday night prayer meetings continue in different locations for a month at a time. The web site has the current locations listed. June location: Cornerstone Christian Fellowship; July location: Seaton Brethren; August location: J. A. I. L.; September: Harvest Church.
The Lord is stirring his people and uniting us denominationally, geographically, racially, clergy/lay, men/women…we are indeed THE BODY OF CHRIST.
Prayerfully,
Pat Dalrymple
